MA Final Major Project: "Open" Circuit Television.
“My brand is called OCTV: “Open” circuit television. It is a new surveillance organisation that believes in transparency and operating for the benefit of the community. Surveillance is essential in our daily lives, but the way it is usually operated can be improved to better serve the community. Its first concerns are people’s privacy and their rights as citizens.
OCTV collaborates with existing surveillance operators to provide a more community friendly model that protects but respects people freedom. It works as a franchising that suggests a new vision of existing CCTV’s activity and allows the citizen to be part of the project. This new brand doesn’t hide but it is open, visible and it operates 24/7. Its fluorescent colours and screens make this brand easily noticeable on the streets and it subverts the old surveillance structure.
It is a “two ways” system where people are more aware of what happens behind the cameras; they can see directly what the CCTV is recording and by using a QR code it is possible to watch operators’ activity in real time. Giving a face to an object that is usually anonymous and alienating can create more trust toward these systems.”

da leggere a tempo perso
Da leggere a tempo perso - To read as a pastime is an editorial project of which the future is the theme. In particular, it tells the history of utopia and its antagonists: dystopia and uchronia. The connection between human being and utopia reveals a lot about the time we are living and what we think about the future. From an iconographic point of view, pictures represent a parallel way that artists and photographers have tried to present a portrait of the present and to create a new concept of thefuture. The story is divided in two parts, one of images and the other one of text in different colors. Also, colours are inverted on every page, such as the stories that sometimes have the same course and at other times they diverge or contrast.
This project is a part of a class magazine that I and my classmate decided to analyze the future in this particular way. The format is A3, texts have been composed and written by us and images has been carefully chosen.
The title is a pun words because it has double meaning: reading an article during spare time and also a “time” that is lost forever. We think about utopia, dystopia and uchronia where time and actions are something that will never happen.

"Uchronia is a neologism from the word utopia (Greek u-topos no-place), replacing topos with chronos (time). It refers to a hypothetical or fictional time-period of our world, in contrast to altogether fictional lands or worlds. A concept similar to alternate history but different in the manner that uchronic times are not easily defined (mainly placed in some distant or unspecified point before current times), sometimes reminiscent of a constructed world."
Corporate image for a general sporting event
This work was created during my first graphic communication course at university and it was a first approach to corporate identity.
Before the realization, we focused our attention and study on the elements that characterize this sport, an overview of previous works, targets and values.
The sport analyzed is artistic gymnastics with its six major disciplines: floor exercise, rings, beam, asymmetrical parallel, horse and bars. The main point of the exercise is to create a coordinated image for a fictitious event in the city of Barcelona in Spain. The key words ofthe concept are: symmetry, geometry and movement of the human body.
Focusing on a single athlete's exercise movement, this has been blocked and repeated in the radial way recreating the motion that is obtained by the use of the different tools.
The intent is to give importance to the discipline, and even before the body: the ultimate effect was created by the beauty of the athlete's body moving in the space, while the tools were eliminated because they were considered secondary.
The project also includes the creation of posters, a brochure, event tickets, pins, T-shirts and promotional flags.

RiminiPlus: "Opentunity" project
Rimini Plus is an initiative of "Do It Yourself" voluntary, participatory, online and offline, which the aims research is to enhancement areas of the city of Rimini subject to decay and neglect.
The online initiative offers each month a photo of a degraded urban place but which is of particular interest to its inhabitants. Each user can change the image proposing a cheap improvement "DIY". Following a vote, there will be a transition from virtual to real: the approved project will be jointly developed by the users of that area.
The project is also divided into three subcategories:
Rimini Plus Colors encourages people to visit less frequented places of the city through creative flashmobs with cheap materials.
Rimini Images Plus aims to beautify areas of Rimini with relevant images about the culture of the selected place, but without vandalism and using temporary materials.

Swallows is a graduation project on the theme of work, in particular the situation of women at work in Italy.
The study has just started researching and analyse the working and psychological conditions and the creation of areas of help and knowledge.
Swallows is a non-profit organization in collaboration with women's associations and charitable institutions of the city with one goal: the information and protection of working women. It will be a place where women will be able to tell their own story, meeting people in the same situation and consult and seek help.
The medium used is the website where the aim of the project is to inform workers of their rights and duties through sections that summarize briefly the laws concerning women at work through pictograms, integrating with newspaper articles, events, books and movies. The second objective is to dedicate a space to the connection between these women, to know their stories, help each other and compare notes. The site is divided mainly into three parts: presentation section, information section and participatory section.
The name refers to the swallow (the bird) and the many similarities it has with the figure of the woman.
Edition: "smart cities and evolving transparency ".
I considered the question of food and in particular the seasonality of fruit and vegetables. Cabbage became the hero of the season and the font reminds me of comic books.
The motto is: “Crisis? With Cabbage!”. Fight intelligently: eating fruit and vegetable help the health and the environment. In fact, these products are rich in vitamins and minerals. They are fresh, so they allow reduction of emissions of harmful gases in the atmosphere and save money. We needto change our mind, and not choose the most clean and the most beautiful food. Cabbage becomes the subject of this campaign, because it’s the most common vegetable, with all the its own variants, in the autumn season.

"Phonguino" is a project which sees the creation of a travel hairdryer, particularly designed for children and adolescents.
The theme of the project is “FreeMind” and it recalls the typical spontaneity and imagination of children, who look at the world without thought patterns imposed by society. Remember "The little boy" of Giovanni Pascoli, an Italian poet, where the child that live inside everyone allows us to see the objects with ever new wonder and imagination. We all remember when we were children and how at least once in our lives we had fun playing with the hair dryer: pretending to sing and be a diva, chasing the cat making him afraid or possess a powerful weapon space.
This project is considered a travel hair dryer designed for children-teenagers, imagining their world: the first holiday with friends without parents and the suitcases packed with clothes and objects just in case because "you never know "! The hair dryer is a fundamental object that cannot be forgotten in the luggage of young people. Why not make a functional object which at the same time precious and unique? Make an object fun and imaginative such a hair dryer that can take different forms depending on the imagination.
The hairdryer recalls the shape of the penguin fitted with various accessories such as the nozzle and the pedestal.
Designed by: Serena Mondaini, Maria Laura Bassi and Francesca Lucarelli
The object created is a"puff" from the hemispherical shape placed in an outdoor setting such as parks, squares and other public places.
The initial concept was "movement" that is derived from the purpose of representing the dynamics in a material such as concrete which by its nature is synonymous with immobility. Among the various searches performed that describe the movement both in the abstract and in the physical, it has been chosen to slide the object, composed of a parts heavier and lighter, on a sloping surface. In the experimental phase the cement material and its physical properties have been studied with the addition of other materials. With the use of simple materials such as polystyrene and lead for fishing it has been mixed all together in the cement. The characteristics obtained from this mixture were then transported into the actual project.
We later created a functional object which takes inspiration from the conceptual model. The idea that immediately manifests and that seemed the most appropriate to the experiment performed is to create a rocking chair in an oval shape.
The final idea was to create a different public seat than usual and revolutionize the idea of sitting in public spaces. Normally there are the classic static benches that do not allow perfect involvement among more people. Eggys allows people to sit where they want, moving the chairs, place them in a circle and enjoy talking to friends.
